Habitats

Ancient woods, meadows, hedgerows, and wetlands form a vibrant patchwork across the High Weald landscape.

At Wadhurst Park we encourage this unique mosaic of habitats, which was shaped by the history of farming and the iron industry. This complexity creates more opportunities for wildlife and makes the ecosystem as a whole more resilient.

We work with productive processes, like coppicing, haymaking and livestock grazing that create and maintain these habitats. Historic maps also show us where we have lost connectivity, and where we can restore it.
