Garden Trainee

Applications for 2020-21 open January 1st 2020, closing Sunday 15th March

The Role:

This is a practical traineeship, an entry level scheme, with time off and funding to attend a Level 2 horticultural certificate. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Someone who sees their future in gardening, working with nature as much as possible. It is a full-time position, paid the Real Living Wage (£9/hr for 2019), a one year traineeship, running from June to June.

We hope that Wadhurst Park provides a great opportunity for a trainee gardener interested in naturalistic gardening style and organic principles. They would work alongside trained gardeners, in gardens consisting largely of meadows and meadow style planting, with native hedges and specimen trees, along with fruit and vegetable gardens, and an ornamental garden under cover. The garden is set within the wider context of the surrounding estate, which is managed for conservation and wildlife, with low-intensity
farming and semi-natural habitat restoration. The desire is for the garden to blend into the wider landscape.

Please apply in writing with a brief statement outlining where your interest in gardening has arisen and what you hope to achieve in the near future, along with your CV, to recruitment@wadhurstpark.com
