Bumblebee Intermediate Identification Course

Come and join Bumblebee Conservation Trust to learn how to identify the rare and cuckoo species found locally.

This course is perfect for those who can confidently identify the 7 common bumblebee species and want to take their knowledge to the next level.

Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be provided, but please bring a packed lunch.
Please wear suitable outdoor clothing for the walk.

NGS Open Garden Days

This year our gardens will be open on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th June 10:00 – 16:00

The naturalistic gardens designed by Tom Stuart-Smith, created on a C19 site, situated within a 2000 acre estate managed organically to enhance its wildlife, cultural heritage and beauty. The gardens invite the wider landscape in with native woodland trees and ground cover, meadows and hedgerows, framing views to hills and lake. We strive to garden with a greater respect for the natural world.

Children: free

Refreshments: Tea, coffee, homemade cakes and sausage rolls

Dung Beetle Safari with Claire Whittle

Join vet and dung beetle expert Claire Whittle to learn about the benefits of dung beetles in creating and maintaining healthy ecosystems.

In this half day event vet and dung beetle expert Claire Whittle will share her knowledge about the critical role that dung beetles play in creating healthy soils and pastures and maintaining animal health.

Areas covered will include how dung beetles:

  • Improve the quality and availability of pasture
  • Keep nuisance fly populations under control
  • Reduce the use of wormers
  • Improve soil quality and structure
